Hey folks,
So, forget about those warm vibes from the weekend because we're in for a snowy Tuesday ahead. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), parts of northern Rhode Island might get up to 13 inches of snow. That's a lot! Most of us are under either a Winter Storm Watch or a Winter Storm Warning.
The storm is gearing up to kick off around 1 a.m. Tuesday, just in time to mess with our morning commute. And guess what? It might keep going until 1 a.m. Wednesday. That's a whole lot of snow time!
The NWS report warns that traveling could be a real hassle, maybe even impossible. They're talking about snowfall rates hitting 1 to 2 inches per hour, which is pretty intense. Plus, blowing snow might make it super hard to see, so be extra careful out there, especially during Tuesday morning's rush.
Oh, and did I mention the wind? Yeah, gusts could reach up to 40 mph. That's like a mini hurricane of snow!
Now, here's the deal: all this wet snow and gusty wind might knock out our power. So, better stock up on some candles, just in case.
As for how much snow we're expecting, well, it's kind of all over the place. Typically, the north gets hit the hardest, while the coast gets a bit of a break. Most of us are looking at anywhere between four to eight inches, with coastal areas getting a bit less. Even Block Island might only get a dusting.
Take a look at this map from the National Weather Service Boston. It gives you a good idea of what to expect in your area.
So, stay safe out there, folks! This snowstorm means business.
