Costco at One Daytona Opens on February 22: A Glimpse into the Massive Project
The much-anticipated grand opening of the massive Costco store at One Daytona is just around the corner, scheduled for February 22. As NASCAR fans flood the retail and entertainment complex located across the street from the Daytona International Speedway, here's a rundown of what you can expect from this exciting project.
It's going to be massive:
Spanning an impressive 161,774 square feet, the Costco at One Daytona will claim the title of the complex's largest tenant upon its opening. Currently, Bass Pro Shops holds the distinction with 67,068 square feet, while the nearby CMX Daytona 12 Luxury Theatres clocks in at 50,000 square feet. Notably, the Daytona Beach Costco will surpass the sizes of its closest competitors; the Sam's Club store in Tomoka Town Center measures 140,000 square feet, and the BJ's Wholesale store in Port Orange occupies 85,000 square feet.
The members-only gas station is already open:
In addition to the retail space, Costco at One Daytona boasts a 24-pump members-only gas station and a tire store featuring five loading bays. The gas station commenced operations on February 1, offering Costco's renowned competitively low gas prices.
It will sport a unique Daytona-specific exterior design:
The new Costco store will showcase an exterior design distinct from its counterparts, featuring a checkerboard pattern reminiscent of Victory Lane at the Speedway. According to Ribakoff, this design pays homage to the rich history of motorsports racing at the Speedway.
It will create hundreds of jobs:
Costco's Daytona Beach location is expected to generate employment opportunities for hundreds of individuals. While the specific number of hires has not been disclosed, spokesman David Sherwood noted that Costco stores typically employ around 500 people.
What's the cost to join?
Costco offers a "Gold Star" membership for $60 per year, which includes two cards. Additionally, the chain provides an "Executive" membership option for $120 annually, offering additional perks beyond those of basic members. In comparison, Sam's Club offers "Club" memberships for $50 per year and "Plus" memberships for $110 annually, while BJ's charges $55 per year for basic "Club" level memberships and $110 per year for "Club+" memberships.
